We are located in San Francisco and Los Angeles and are one of the few private interdisciplinary surgical practices in the United States that is 100% focused on gender-affirming surgery. TOP SURGERY

Top surgery is performed to contour the chest, and give the client a more masculine appearance. For transmen, top surgery is performed to remove excess breast tissue and create a more chiseled, streamlined upper torso. The nipples may also be adjusted to appear more masculine.

DR. THOMAS SATTERWHITE

Dr. Satterwhite is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has been working with the transgender population since 2014, helping transmen, transwomen, non-binary, and gender diverse individuals to fully actualize their aesthetic potential and embody their ideal version of themselves while gaining in self-confidence and self-love.

After obtaining his medical degree from Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA, Dr. Satterwhite followed up with a demanding residency in plastic surgery at Stanford Hospital, one of the most highly regarded facilities around the globe. After obtaining his board certification as a plastic surgeon, he embarked on a prestigious fellowship in the complex and painstaking field of craniofacial surgery in Miami, FL under the tutelage of Dr. Anthony Wolfe, an internationally respected surgeon.

DR. DEV GURJALA

Dr. Gurjala is a board-certified plastic surgeon who is honored to be among the most accomplished, compassionate, and dedicated gender confirmation surgeons practicing in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is dedicated to guiding his patients through the life-affirming journey to a happier, more fulfilling future.

Dr. Gurjala’s mission is to use his love of surgery and design to advance gender confirmation surgery, helping the transgender community through surgeries that are thoughtful, safe, and innovative.

DR. JOHN PANG

Dr. Pang is a double board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon who has dedicated his life to servicing the transgender and gender non-conforming communities. He specializes in complex genital, face, and chest reconstruction, and aesthetic surgery and body contouring. Dr. Pang is a committed advocate for transgender healthcare rights. When he is not working to create masterful surgical results, he focuses his time on educating others on plastic surgery and transgender care and stays active in transgender surgery clinical outcomes research.

DR. MICHAEL SAFIR

Dr. Michael Safir joined the Align Surgical team to serve the Los Angeles area patients! Michael Safir, MD is a board-certified urologist specializing in gender-affirming bottom surgery procedures. His sub-specialty certification in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPM-RS) makes Dr. Safir one of the few urologists worldwide with individual fellowship training and experience in both male and female genital reconstruction. Dr. Safir’s extensive expertise in urology and compassion for his patients has made him a trusted choice among transgender people from across the U.S. seeking bottom surgery.

DR. PAUL MITTERMILLER

Dr. Mittermiller is a craniofacial plastic surgeon dedicated to providing personalized gender-affirming care to the transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse community in and around Los Angeles. His specialties include gender-affirming facial surgery (facial feminization surgery and facial masculinization surgery). He is one of the few plastic surgeons in the U.S. with specialty training in craniofacial and facial feminization surgeries.

A Southern California native, Dr. Mittermiller works closely with his patients to find the exact combination of surgical options that will meet their personal goals. He has been actively involved in research to advance facial feminization surgery, and his published peer-reviewed research has gained recognition from the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery journal.

DR. BREANNA JEDRZEJEWSKI

Dr. Jedrzejewski’s lifelong commitment to social justice and dream of becoming a doctor led her to become an integrated plastic surgeon specializing in the full array of gender-affirming procedures. As the daughter of a Polish immigrant and a Mexican-American, and the first in her family to graduate from college, Dr. Jedrzejewski carries a deep compassion for patients who may have experienced trauma or have had challenges accessing the healthcare they need. Her family’s international background inspired her decision to pursue a master’s degree in public health focused on global health as well as her desire to understand more deeply the challenges marginalized communities experience accessing healthcare. Dr. Jedrzejewski was also deeply inspired by the portrait photography she studied as an undergraduate to think about how subjects saw themselves and how artists chose to portray them. These questions have shaped how Dr. Jedrzejewski approaches patient care – closely collaborating with each of her patients to understand how they view themselves and how they wish to be seen in the world.

DEBBY ANZIANO
PA-C

Debby Anziano PA-C is a certified Physician Assistant specializing in Plastic Surgery. She has worked with Dr. Satterwhite from the start of Align, and her passion is serving the transgender community.

Debby was raised on the East Coast, graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and an Associate degree in Radiology. She received her PA degree from University of California, Davis, School of Medicine.

TERANZE LAM
PA

Teranze studied to become a Physician Associate at Touro University Nevada and graduated in the fall of 2019. His work experience since graduating was in the emergency department at San Joaquin General Hospital where he worked with an underserved patient population of many different socioeconomic backgrounds. He received his undergraduate degree majoring in biology and minoring in psychology at UC Merced.

Yiwei Ling, MMSc, PA-C is a board-certified physician associate joining Align Surgical Associates. She is thrilled to continue to provide exceptional gender affirming care to patients in California.

Yiwei began her PA career at Mount Sinai in New York City, as an early member of the surgical team at The Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery. During her time there, she established a strong foundation in all aspects of gender affirming care, including not only the medical and surgical care of patients, but also the multi-faceted interdisciplinary teamwork approach that is essential to successful patient outcomes.
